This event will start at the beginning of the riverfront at 8th Ave. and cover 4 miles along the Mississippi, past commercial businesses, back on our beautiful bike path, and through some of Fulton’s residential to finish at the Robert Fulton Community Center.
Registration Cost: $5 per child, $10 per adult, $25 per family if paid prior to September 18th. Same day registration is available for an additional $5 fee. . .
To kick the race off, color will be thrown on participants and by participants. Color will be tossed again at the end of the ride as you come to the end at your own pace. After the race, clean-up stations will be set up outside the north end of the community center to blow yourself off and clean up with water.
Participants will be given the route the morning of the ride along with color packets to throw, tips for clean-up, and how to retain the color in your shirt. It is suggested that you wear a white shirt for this activity. The chamber will have volunteers at busy crossings to help assist with safety and is seeking businesses to sponsor water stations along the route to make this pleasant. Pass the word to your friends, family, and neighbors. All proceeds benefit the Chamber of Commerce in Fulton, IL and allow for the continuation of community events.
As for the 1st Annual Soap Box Derby, the course will be on 9th Ave., from 7th St. down to 5th St. There will be three classes: Class 1 = children 6-11, Class 2 = youth 12 – 17, Class 3 = adults 18+. The first three places in each place will be awarded . Registration is necessary and costs $10 per driver per car if paid before September 18th. Again, same day registration available for the price of $5. Trial runs will be granted and then the race will commence starting with the youngest class. Please make sure you inspect the packet of Regulations and Mandatory Car Dimensions, which will be available wherever registration forms are located (Chamber office, Schmaling Library, City of Fulton website).
