Children’s Book Giving Tree!

This holiday season, we’re asking you to consider giving the gift of reading by sponsoring a book to add to the library’s collection through the Schmaling Holiday Giving Tree! Simply choose a book (or books!) to sponsor and let us know by stopping in to the library, calling 815-589-2045, emailing fulpublib@mchsi.com, or sending a message through Facebook. As long as no one else has already sponsored that book, when it comes in, we’ll put a special nameplate in the book saying it was donated by you AND you’ll get the first read on it! Just drop off the cash or check for your sponsorship at the library! And remember, all donations to the library are tax-deductible!

Our First Dutch Days Wooden Shoe Race

This year, the library was fortunate enough to sponsor the Children’s Wooden Shoe Race at Dutch Days. We had 37 children in preschool through 5th grade participate in this fun event! We’d like to thank Trudy Feldt of the Dutch Days Costume Committee for lending us her vast collection of wooden shoes! And we’d like to thank LeAnn Smith for donating the yummy treats in the children’s goody bags and providing some more wooden shoes for the event! Thank you to Sarah Plumley and Rebecca Huizenga for providing us with photos of this super fun event! Double-click on any image to see the full photo.
