Reading Takes You Everywhere!

This summer let Reading Take you Everywhere @ Schmaling. Registration for the children’s (preschool-5th grade), young adult (6th-12th grade), and adult summer reading program runs through Saturday, June 9. The Reading Program kicks off on Monday, June 11 and runs through Saturday, July 7. Check out our Events Calendar to see a listing of all our fun summer reading activities!

June Book Club Selection Soars

Join the River Bend Readers Book Discussion group as they discourse about the book H is for Hawk, by Helen Macdonald. The book recounts the author’s time spent devoted to adopting, raising, and training a goshawk following the devastating loss of her beloved father. It was also one of the New York Times Book Review’s 10 Best Books of the Year for 2015.

Attention Summer Reading Program Participants: If you read this month's book club selection AND you attend the book discussion, you'll get a BONUS punch in your Summer Reading Club Card!

The group will meet Tuesday, June 27th, from 6 – 7pm.

Highlight: Presidential Themed Resources


Brush up on your Presidential Proficiency in honor of Presidents’ Day!

We have insightful biographies, documentaries on DVD, anthologies, trivia books, and presidential themed non-fiction titles ranging from the novel to the austere.  Biographies (Dewey Decimal System call number 920) are found in the small closet which also contains first editions, cookbooks, and paperbacks.  The non-fiction presidential themed books are located in 970 – 973.7, with 973.7 being devoted exclusively to the works of Abraham Lincoln.  Non-fiction DVDs are located in the small closet which also contains movies, audiobooks and CDs.

The library will be closed Monday, February 15th, for Presidents' Day
