New Automation System

Schmaling began participation in a new automation system in October.  We upgraded from a Union List member of the library consortium, PrairieCat, to a Basic Online member. This move creates increased patron autonomy.  Patrons now have 24 – 7 online access to their patron accounts; allowing them to place holds, order materials via inter-library loan, renew materials (until renewal limits are reached), pay library fees and fines with a credit or debit card, make reading lists, and more!

For complete instructions on searching, placing holds, and utilizing all the benefits of your personal account in PrairieCat: please see our PrairieCat Catalog page, or pick up a printed brochure at the library.

Coloring Club Now for All Ages

Beginning in March, the Schmaling Adult Coloring Club began meeting on Tuesdays from 2 – 3 pm at the library.  Consider joining your fellow coloring enthusiasts for a relaxing time of coloring and visiting.

Due to an interest in evening coloring program offerings, the Library will now host a Coloring for All Ages program on Thursday evenings from 5:30-6:30 pm.

♥ Please Note: There will be NO Thursday Coloring Club during the month of May. The Tuesday time spot will continue to meet as normal, though.

Individuals as well as families are encouraged to attend. Per Library Policy, children aged 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult or a responsible caregiver aged 14 or older. Parents or caregivers of children aged 6 or younger must remain in the Children’s Room with their child(ren) but adult coloring materials will still be available to them to utilize.  Adults and Young Adults may congregate upstairs.  Parents of children aged 7 and above may elect to stay downstairs with their children or join the adults upstairs.  The Adult Coloring Club that meets on Tuesdays will still continue to meet as an adults only gathering.

The Library will provide coloring books/pages, colored pencils, and crayons for those who are new to the coloring craze, or if you’re already an enthusiast, you may bring your own supplies. Coffee, tea, juice, and treats will be served to program attendees.

This program is absolutely FREE! No registration is necessary. If you have any questions, please contact the Library at 815-589-2045 or email fulpublib@mchsi.com.  Come join the fun!
